Join us as we visit Special Collections at the Jacksonville Public Library and view original Sanborn Fire Insurance Maps. These maps were originally used to document properties for insurance purposes in cities and towns across America. They have ended up providing an amazing record of our built environment overtime. The Sanborn Maps are especially useful for historians and historic preservationists to determine how a building has changed over the years.
